This course uncovers the roots of musical modernism, including works by Wagner, Russian Nationalist composers and non- Western musical traditions. We then trace these influences and others on the music of Satie, Debussy, Ravel and other composers from the early 20th century. This will be followed by The Birth of Musical Modernism II in Spring 2023. Half term is 24th - 28th October. |
