Course Description |
From its humble origins as operatic introductory music or as a collection of dance movements, the symphony came to dominate orchestral composition from the late eighteenth century almost up to the present day. This term, we will trace the development of the symphony from the early eighteenth century to the early nineteenth century. No specialist knowledge is needed for full participation - just an interest in listening to music and finding out more about it.
