Course Description

This 8 week course will run on  21, 28 Sep; 5, 12, 19 Oct; 2, 23, 30 Nov

This series of discussions covers a wide variety of interesting topics from modern astronomy, the exploration of the Moon and planets, and the search for life elsewhere in the universe.
Mars rovers, planetary probes, crewed missions to the Moon, the Big Bang, black holes, active galaxies, exploding stars, attempts to detect alien signals, and many more topics are included in these discussions.
Some familiarity with basic astronomy may be helpful but is not essential for this course, and no previous science or maths knowledge is required. Summary sheets of the course material will be available, but a notebook and pen may be useful for taking extra notes during the sessions.
