| Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897) is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of the nineteenth century. He contributed to all musical genres except opera and most of his output is still regularly performed. We will mainly focus on his orchestral, choral, chamber music and solo songs and also discuss the general musical and historical context of his life as a composer. No specialist knowledge is required for full participation – just an interest in listening to music and finding out more about it. |
