Event Description

From its earliest beginnings in the 1600's the English had strong views about buying and selling people and transporting them into slavery. Kate will explore how the country and the Sussex community in particular, benefitted from the practice, the local propaganda which defended it, the role and motivation of those in Sussex who joined the long campaign for it's abolition and the part they played in finally achieving it in 1833.

Presenter
