Event Description |

In this talk, Dr Melissa Lazenby will explain the fundamental science of the earth’s climate system, observe and comment on the changing patterns in earth’s climate (e.g. rainfall, temperature) and explain why the earth’s climate is changing and the evidence for it. She will discuss how the earth’s future climate is projected using global models under different scenarios and then discuss the predicted changes and impacts both globally and for the UK under different scenarios.
There will be an interval of about 15mins when some light refreshments will be available. A glass of wine will be available for a donation.

Dr Melissa Lazenby is a Doctor of climate science, with strong experience in the field of climate research and analysis over southern Africa as well as being highly passionate about teaching at University level with 9 years of teaching experience at Sussex University in climate change. Her PhD thesis focused on process-based analysis of the climate of southern Africa, as well as the mechanisms of change and the amount of uncertainty associated with projected model changes in precipitation. She has two degrees in Meteorology from University of Pretoria, South Africa, and her PhD in African Climate Change was completed at Sussex University.
