Course Description

Learn how to counsel people effectively by using different psychotherapeutic theories. We will address the pitfalls in counselling and then offer positive practical skills. Concerns and areas covered will include stress, relationships, assertiveness, mental wellness, bereavement, dreams, sexuality, anxiety, coping strategies, and how to manage conflict. Whatever level of experience or knowledge that you have already, individuals will become self-aware and benefit on a personal growth level.

This is a five week course and finishes 24th May 2022

This latter video demonstrates the practical skills of working spontaneously in therapy with clients, seen for the first time with Jeanie having no pre knowledge of the issues that they would present.  No cuts or editing was made. The Different Folks wanted to work on differing issues of inner conflict, cognitive dissonance, bereavement; sexual anxieties ,relationship difficulties, childhood recall of  her previous country of origin and a different culture; psychosexual, and the guilt and regret of leaving children in divorce.  

The Different Strokes, that is demonstrating practical alternative therapeutic approaches included Transactional Analysis;  Gestalt therapy; Neuro Linguistic programming, Bereavement Counselling, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and  Psychodrama. 

Jeanie began her career as a nursery nurse, then a physical education teacher, psychologist, psychotherapist, psychometric tester, broadcaster and author.  
She is a national trainer, specializing in Psychotherapy and  Counselling; Psychology of Management relationships. e.g.; Stress management; Leadership skills; Emotional intelligence; Appraisal training; Psychometric Testing and Advanced Practical Counselling Skills;  She was chair of Sussex Counselling and Psychotherapists until 2020 and is still their CPD organizer; (www.jeanie-civil.co.uk)
