Course Description |

This new course introduces the relatively new science of astrobiology and takes the form of a series of short presentations followed by group discussions and exploring questions. Discussions include the current search for life on Mars and in the outer Solar System, the search for planets orbiting other stars and prospects for discovering intelligent alien life in the Universe, and how space travel develops into space colonisation and even interstellar travel in the future. No previous science or maths knowledge is required. A little familiarity with some basic astronomy could be helpful but is not essential. No equipment is required except a notebook and pen. What is Astrobiology? How life developed on planet Earth. This is a five week course from 27th April to 26th May 2022 with no half term break. A second five week course, Exploring Space, starts on 8th June 2022. |
