The practice of Yoga postures with simple breathing techniques and a period of relaxation will improve health and fitness, bringing balance and harmony to our lives. (Please bring a blanket and wear loose clothing – shorts, leotard, etc., and have bare feet.)

Drawing and Painting for Pleasure I

A general course designed for new and existing members. Using many media, we work experimentally in landscapes, still life, the study of natural and found objects and costume life. Outdoor sketching in good weather and visits to exhibitions are also organised by the class.

Medieval and Renaissance Music: Further Explorations*

5 sessions:  April 14 to May 12, 0930hrs-1130hrs

The Medieval and Renaissance periods marked the beginning of the ‘Western Art Music’ tradition. This course will examine both sacred and secular music from this time with many music examples. No previous musical knowledge or music literacy is required to participate – just an interest in listening to music and finding out more about its background and origins.

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood & their Women*

This course looks at the development of the PRB and the models, wives and lovers who inspired them. Portrayed as nubile maidens, sirens, symbols of death and courtly ladies, these images both reflected and shaped the roles of women in Victorian society.

Sketching and Drawing

For all those wishing to improve their drawing skills. It is designed to explore basic techniques for line and shadow and improve observation and layout through figurative, animal, still-life and landscape for your sketchbook. We will use pencil, graphite, charcoal and pen and ink. In good weather we shall sketch and paint outdoors with excursions to local scenic areas of interest.
